Joe Fortin, a feed yard manager at Cheyenne Feeders in Goodland, KS is a new CRYSTALYX® Brigade® customer. Cheyenne Feeders has a feed yard capacity of 12,000 head. Fortin’s use of Brigade® started in 2010 and says the number one reason that he uses Brigade® on his small receiving cattle, is that the trace minerals are vital for vaccines to perform.
Joe also goes on to add that good early trace mineral consumption and absorption are also important in building a strong immune system and aid in cattle on feed quicker, by stimulating their appetite. Joe places 2- 250# CRYSTALYX® barrels in each pen of 100 head or less, but adds another barrel for each additional 50 head. He feels this provides the correct amount of surface area to get the consumption he’s looking for.
Joe’s wife is in charge of the feed yard's vaccine supply and oversees the sick pen program. She quickly adds that CRYSTALYX® Brigade® has made her job, and life, easier.
